When the town he swore to protect turns their back on him, Marshal Will Kane (GARY COOPER) has no choice but to stand alone against a revenge-seeking criminal and his posse.

Newly married former Marshal Will Kane (Gary Cooper) is prepared to leave town with his bride, Amy (Grace Kelly), when word comes down that criminal Frank Miller (Ian MacDonald) has been released and is on the 12 O'Clock train into town to seek revenge against the man who put him away. With little over an hour until Miller's arrival, Kane attempts to form a posse but discovers that the town he has cleaned up and protected would rather not get involved in the impending showdown and that he must face Miller and his men alone.
